Gampi grows in Ifugao.
Here are a few photos of last year's trip to gather Gampi, one of three prized fibres used to make Japanese paper. Ifugao is a twelve hour bus ride north of Manila. The villages that harvest are another three hours by foot. Ifugao is well known for its magnificent terraces. Gampi grows on maginal lands between the terraces and higher forested elevations.
